08 Apr The Scariest Thing of All
Four and a half years ago, I took a massive leap of faith and followed my dreams. I quit my stable, corporate job (in a shark costume, no less!), and went full time, all-in on my coaching business.
Leading up to that day I was TERRIFIED. Seriously, how were we going to make it financially? How am I going to make it as a coach? Who is going to work with me? I had a lot of fear, but it wasn’t just the logistical side of things that was holding me back.
Hubs was fully supportive no matter what I did, but he ultimately knew it was up to me. I had to make the decision and take the leap.
When I look back, I recognize what scared me the most.
No, it wasn’t quitting a secure job, though that was terrifying. It wasn’t just my fear about finances, though that was present as well.
Above all else, I was terrified of taking a chance on myself. Of giving myself the chance to really, truly succeed and reach for my dreams.
Think about it: When was the last time you REALLY took a chance on YOU? Like, made all-out effort to get a promotion, to raise your salary, to get your project approved, to get funding, to apply to a leadership program, to change careers, to change fields, to write that book, or to do whatever it is you know would take tons of courage to do?
Taking a chance on YOU is one of the most courageous things you can do.
Taking a chance means that you are all in and you believe in what you are capable of doing. You know that you can rely on yourself to get it done and to change up your situation.
Taking a chance on yourself doesn’t have to look like quitting corporate and starting a business, it can look as simple as standing for what you believe in.
Taking a chance on yourself means that you believe you matter.
Here is the thing, your only other option is to NEVER take a chance. Stay the course, don’t buck the status quo. It is safe there, right?
We were all given unique gifts and dreams to go after, but I find that it is equally scary to never even try. To risk getting to the end of your life and realizing you never took a chance, never took the leap to believe in yourself and your worth.
Give Yourself A Chance
Try out taking a chance on YOU. See where it takes you. See what you uncover. See what you find out about yourself. You may just quit in a costume like I did.
